Cleansing in the facial care routine, Dr. Natalia Jiménez
by BlancaShare
Regardless of our skincare routine, there are a number of essential steps we should always follow. The first, and one of the most important, is cleansing.
From my experience in consultations, I observe that sometimes not enough attention is paid to it, and it is common for people to ask us for advice on an anti-aging serum, a sunscreen, etc., but rarely are we asked specifically about how to perform a facial care or skin cleansing routine.
Every skin is different and may have a specific problem depending on when we evaluate it: skin that is predominantly sensitive, oily, dry… Because of this, the cleansing routine should be recommended based on these characteristics.
Facial cleansing in the skincare routine
There is one guideline that is common to all cases: we recommend cleaning both in the morning and at night.
- In the morning: we remove the remains of products we have used at night and also the oily secretion from our sebaceous glands, which continue to work at night.
- At night: we manage to eliminate pollution particles that settle on the skin and makeup residue if used.
Proper cleansing will give your skin a brighter appearance and make all the products you use afterward more effective (for example, vitamin C as an antioxidant, retinoic acid to improve fine lines, etc.). Furthermore, by removing pollutants and makeup residue, you prevent sensitivity issues and premature skin aging.
The cleanser should vary depending on our skin type, the time of year, the climate we live in, etc. The cleansing process can be more or less complex, sometimes including two steps.
The importance of cleansing in our facial care routine is clear, but what can we do to improve it? For some years now, facial cleansing brushes have been incorporated into the routine for many of us, making cleansing even more effective.
Cleaning brushes – LUNA 3
Are all cleansing brushes the same? Although they're all grouped together, there are significant differences in how they work, their tolerance, and their cleaning capabilities. One of the most successful manufacturers of these devices is FOREO, which recently launched a new model called the Luna 3 .
This consists of two parts:
- Facial cleansing: This device uses filaments that transmit TSonic pulsations, capable of removing 99.5% of dirt from your face. New features include the ability to configure the cleansing treatment via an app, with up to 16 different intensities to choose from. The cleansing process takes only 60 seconds.
- Anti-aging section: On the back of the device, there are concentric waves. The pulsations in this case help tone the skin muscles and allow the facial care product you use to penetrate more effectively.
Furthermore, it is submersible in water, ideal for use in the shower, and can be used 650 times on a single charge.
It is available in 3 colors, one for each skin type:
- Lilac: Sensitive skin.
- Rosa: Normal skin.
- Blue: Combination/oily skin
Finally, one of the most important features is the advantage of not having to buy replacement heads regularly . Cleaning the device is very simple, and since it's made of hypoallergenic silicone , it doesn't harbor bacteria that could cause skin infections.
How often should it be used? What cleansing products should be used? Since everyone's skin is different and may be in a different situation, it's advisable to consult your dermatologist for proper advice and a personalized facial care routine.
